This month in food we give you our take on the best brunch, lunch and dinner to enjoy in London. There is a range of places to suit every price range, budget and preference – with vegetarian options aplenty.

 

The Quince Tree Café at Clifton Nurseries

For Brunch

Located in leafy Little Venice and nestled within the grounds of Clifton Nurseries, The Quince Tree Café offers a tranquil location for delicious and wholesome food. Featuring a cosy greenhouse in a casual setting, with fresh blooms, and chic mismatched furnishing, this café offers a selection of pastries, sweet and savoury treats, alongside a seasonal menu of small plates and larger main courses.

The café is open for brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. Expect brunch favourites of smashed avocados and poached egg with an additional twist of hummus. The lunch menu features rather generous sized salmon fishcakes, a crispy duck salad or a mouth-watering mushroom and goats cheese burger.

If your sweet tooth isn’t satisfied then for pudding you will find a selection of delicious cakes on the front counter. The carrot cake is to die for!

Thomas’s Café, Burberry London 

For Lunch

Housed in the flagship store of luxury fashion house Burberry on Regents Streets, this gorgeous café is a nod to the founder of the classic British brand, Thomas Burberry. Following the theme of the luxury, this café oozes elegance and sophistication with its classic fresh décor including wooden furnishing, soft crème walls, white-grey marble floors and large windows that offer natural light and views of London’s busy streets.

They have a seasonal menu that celebrates British classics through from breakfast, lunch to afternoon tea, and champagne and oysters. Expect to find lobsters, courgette fritters, caviar, oysters, salads and other tasty classics such as shepherd’s pie, salmon and scrambled eggs.

What to eat? 

Roast spiced chickpeas, rainbow chard and sweet potato salad.

Served with toasted coconut and preserved lemon. This is a fantastic combination and is one of the best salads we have ever tried!

Chapati Club

For Lunch or Dinner

With a focus on home-cooked Indian dishes, Chapati Club is a cosy and delicious eatery located in Acton. The brainchild of Resh Sonchhatla, the restaurant motto is “we believe Indian food can be so natural you can eat it everyday!” and it is most definitely working for us. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, which is enhanced through its simple décor including a wall of graffiti, plywood walls, and wall of travel posters from various locations. Some dishes are served on traditional stain trays which encourages everyone to share and taste.

Expect to find a menu of mouth-watering traditional Indian dishes including chicken biryani, hariyali chicken, okra, paneer and vegetarian staples such as tarka dhal, and of course before you ask, they do serve a delicious naan -  perfect in texture and taste. They also serve a range of drinks including the popular traditional yoghurt-based lassi drink.

Quaglino’s, St James 

For dinner

This restaurant that dates back to 1929, Quaglino’s is a London staple and has quite a history. Founded by Giovanni Quaglino, a restaurateur from Northern Italy, and located in trendy St James, Quaglinos is a glamorous restaurant famous for its character and exceptional food. Expect to find a menu of contemporary European foods, including lobster, risotto, grilled beef, and oysters. When you’re in Quaglino’s you will feel like you’re in a scene from The Great Gatsby; it’s also fitted outwith a grand staircase, velvet curtains and a glittering stage.

Quaglino’s has brunch available on Saturdays from 11.30 am – 2.30 pm on Saturdays, offering free-flowing champagne and a vast selection of brunch options including eggs benedict, buttermilk pancakes, or oysters.
