London at home: virtual things to do this week (27th April-2nd May 2020)

With lockdown still very much on the agenda, the virtual world is blowing up. From opera and ballet performances, theatre productions to frying pan pizza tutorials here are some of the virtual activities you need to check out this week.

#OurHouseToYourHouse: The Royal Opera House

#FLODown: This Friday marks the last in the royal Opera House #OurHouseToYourHouse initiative. A series of free major opera or ballet performances that have been streamed every Friday at 7pm. Bring a slice of class to your living room.

Streaming at 7pm this Friday will be ‘The Winter’s Tale’ (The Royal Ballet, 2014), via the ROHs Facebook and YouTube channels.

#NationalTheatreatHome: The National Theatre

#FLODown: The National Theatre is offering a whole host of virtual content for you to get stuck into. They have a vast collection of world-class productions and they have decided to open up their archives for you to enjoy at home.

Two of our favourites are The Twelfth Night staring Tasmin Greig which is currently available until 30th April and Frankenstein which is directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle and stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller which will be available from 7pm on 30th April.

The National Theatre is also doing a virtual quiz on the final Monday of each month at 7pm. With a line-up of celebrity quizmasters, be prepared to get tested on sports, history and of course, The National Theatre.  This is not one to be missed!

 The Bake Off: Bread Ahead

The Frying Pan Pizza: Pizza Pilgrims

#FLODown: Although you can’t get your Pizza Pilgrims fix at the moment, they have instead launched a ‘make your own pizza’ kit that can be made in a frying pan! The kit contains all the ingredients necessary to create two Pizza Pilgrims’ signature margherita pizzas.

 You can download instructions or head to their Instagram account where OG Pilgrim James will show you how to make your DIY pizza and also share some tips on how to make your pizza that little bit more interesting. Each pizzas kit costs £15 excluding delivery charges.

The Luxury Cocktail: Artesian Bar

The Online Pub: Brewdog

#FLODown: Brewdog have launched an online bar, starting every Friday at 6pm. Check into the online bar for interactive events, virtual pubs quizzes and live music. This also includes cool beer tasting sessions with their founders James Watt and Martin Dicikie. So, grab a beer, kick back and imagine that you are back in a Brewdog bar! Plus, they will also be hosting home brewing master classes and a chance to win some of their merchandise.

During the lockdown Brewdog are offering home delivery, a Hop Drop click and collect service and a minimal contact drive thru service so you can get you can continue to get your beer fix. Tune in This Friday!

#AlwaysPlaying: The London Symphony Orchestra
