Shila is a stylish and chic hotel located in the upscale neighbourhood of Kolonaki, Athens. It's a converted 1920s townhouse that offers six unique suites, each with a focus on originality and design. The hotel features incredible art and furnishings in every room, most of which are available for sale. With its proximity to great museums and restaurants, it's an ideal location for those looking to experience the city's finest art, fashion, food, and nightlife. Shila's rooftop is a welcoming space, where DJs and sushi chefs make regular appearances, and the attentive staff provides exceptional service, ensuring a consistently aesthetically pleasing experience.

Rooms

 The hotel boasts six exquisite suites, each with its own unique artistic flair. During our stay, we were fortunate enough to experience the Garden Suite. This spacious and inviting room features a stunning outdoor area adorned with lush greenery, creating a tranquil and serene atmosphere. The suspended bed, gracefully accessed by steps, adds a touch of whimsy to the space. Purposefully unfinished plasterwork and a chic, dramatic black bathroom add to the suite's luxurious and modern aesthetic. Additionally, the room is adorned with various antique items, including a stunning hand-held mirror and gorgeous throws, adding a sense of history and elegance to the already stunning space.

The suites at this hotel are a cut above the rest, offering a spacious and welcoming layout that feels more like a stylish apartment than a typical hotel room. Expertly crafted by interior designer Anna Bonnet, the original features of the building are seamlessly integrated into the decor, including the stunning terrazzo floors, lofty high ceilings, and large windows draped in elegant linens. The bespoke furnishing, antique coffee tables, vintage rugs, and art deco lamps create a homely atmosphere that's perfect for long or short stays. The bathrooms are equally alluring, with each one sporting a unique and sexy design, from black walls and copper sinks to brocade curtains and even a swing in the shower!

While there's no television in the rooms, each one comes with an all-important coffee machine, and iPads loaded with Netflix. You can play your own epic playlist through the rooms sound systems, making it easy to unwind and enjoy your stay in style.

Price: Suites from £155 in low season; and from £235 in high, including breakfast. Please note the hotel charges an additional government tax of €0.50 per room per night on check-out. Great value for the room size and location!

Dining

The hotel does not have a restaurant, but guests can have breakfast delivered to their room or enjoy it on the rooftop. The breakfast includes croissants, sourdough, yoghurt with granola and chia seeds, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, avocado, feta, fresh fruit, cold-press organic orange juice, and hot beverages. The hotel can arrange takeout of your choice from local restaurants through an iPad in every suite. Drinks can be obtained on the rooftop or ordered via room service from a local bar. In-room amenities feature local and sustainable products, including freshly ground coffee, loose-leaf teas with wholesome snacks such as heather honey, and pistachios and fig bars. À la carte breakfast options are also available.

Facilities

The hotel boasts a fantastic team of staff to assist with any guest requests. Amenities include a spacious rooftop on the top floor, where guests can lounge and enjoy some of the available beverages, or have a morning breakfast amidst a minimalist ambiance of greenery, bamboo, and comfortable sun chairs. The hotel follows a chic theme throughout, creating a seamless flow of elegance. Other amenities include free WiFi throughout the hotel, and a library lounge. The rooms are fully equipped with air-conditioning, Bose sound systems, minibars, and bespoke bath products. Note: The hotel reception is manned between 7.30am and 11pm.
