Holmes Hotel London Announces Exciting New Literary Series Series

Holmes Hotel London launch their Author in Conversation series this week, featuring intimate keynote talks and discussions with acclaimed writers on topics such as love, heartbreak, identity, and friendship. The series launches this week to mark World Book Night, with sessions led by Vogue columnist Annie Lord and Ella McLeod. The authors will lead discussions on the themes of their lauded debuts, followed by a Q&A discussion with guests. Tickets start at £25 and include a welcome cocktail, with a three-course tasting menu available for £65 at the hotel's restaurant. New Regency Orchestra at Colour Factory

The New Regency Orchestra is set to perform at Colour Factory in Queen’s Yard, as part of London Latin Music Festival La Linea. London Marathon 2023

The highly anticipated London Marathon is back this Sunday, marking its return to its traditional April date. After being postponed for two consecutive years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has finally been rescheduled to its rightful time of year. As a beloved annual affair held in the heart of London, the marathon covers 26.2 miles of the city's diverse landscape, and was founded by esteemed athletes Chris Brasher and John Disley in 1981. London Philharmonic Orchestra: Don Quixote Rides Again 

The London Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductor Vladimir Jurowski, will be performing Richard Strauss' symphonic interpretation of Cervantes' famous tale about the mad knight Don Quixote at the Royal Festival Hall on Saturday. Ever since 1605, when Cervantes’s tragicomic hero first rode out in search of his impossible dream, the figure of Don Quixote has inspired artists, idealists and – naturally – composers. The concert will begin with Mozart's Symphony No. 40, and cellist Kristina Blaumane and violist Richard Waters will also perform.

Aladdin Sane Live

The Nu Civilisation Orchestra is reimagining David Bowie's iconic album, Aladdin Sane, to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The performance will feature guest vocalists, including Anna Calvi, Jake Shears, Roxanne Tataei, Lynks, and Tawiah, and will be hosted by Amy Lamé. The album, which contains classic hits such as 'The Jean Genie' and 'Drive-In Saturday,' was originally released in April 1973 and remains a cultural touchstone.

Concrete Lates x Queer Bruk

National Poetry Library presents: Aladdin Sound

Aladdin Sane's Queer Legacies

Queer House Party, a DIY DJ collective and community platform, will take over a club for a night of anarchic partying with DJs and performers.  No Place Like Home (A Vietnamese Exhibition) Part II

The Museum of the Home in the heart of the Vietnamese community on Kingsland Road presents a new contemporary art exhibition, , curated by KV Duong and Hoa Dung Clerget. The exhibition explores the theme of home through the Vietnamese cultural lens and features object-based works by Vietnamese diasporic artists. The exhibition highlights the significance of immigrant family meals as moments of connection and cultural transmission, with traditional foods being intertwined with memory, identity, and belonging. The exhibition also features a striking urban landscape installation made of Vietnamese plastic stools and a fluid, curvilinear table that encourages dynamic interaction with the artworks and each other.

Morgan Stanley Lates with Somerset House and The Courtauld offers visitors a unique experience with exclusive live performances and activities themed around current exhibitions, taking place three times a year. The event on 19 April will feature The Courtauld Gallery’s latest temporary exhibition, by Peter Doig, with after-hours access, drawing workshops, poetry performances, and talks from experts. Gagosian London: An Evening of Readings with Phoebe Boswell

Gagosian in Britannia Street, London, is hosting an evening of readings by Phoebe Boswell, one of the nineteen participating artists in the group exhibition Rites of Passage. Boswell's interdisciplinary practice explores subjectivity in the threshold between collective histories and possible futures, and her writing will be based on her 2022 writer's residency at the Whitechapel Gallery. She will share new writing that examines the cultural associations of water and its dichotomy as both a site of renewal and hope and a repository of painful historical experience.

The Gillian Jason Gallery presents Universe 25’, a new exhibition curated by Matilda Liu, showcasing the works of seven international emerging female artists. Inspired by John Calhoun's 1968 sociological study of mice, the artists explore the line between utopia and dystopia in today's urban society, reflecting on contemporary societal conditions. The Australian Ballet returns to Royal Opera House this Summer

The Australian Ballet will be performing George Balanchine's Jewels at the Royal Opera House in August 2023 as part of their 60th anniversary celebrations. Jewels is a three-part full-evening ballet, considered a masterpiece of the balletic art form, and will be performed on an international stage for the first time. The tour will also feature a one-off 60th Anniversary Gala performance showcasing the company's signature repertoire and works by Rudolf Nureyev, Yuri Possokhov, and Australian choreographer Alice Topp.
