#FLOFavourite: top 5 in food this week

The final few days of the government’s new ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme are upon us so to help you make the most of it, we’ve compiled another list of restaurants taking part. We’ve also included options which are not but who are still offering tasty treats to enjoy in these last vestiges of summer. The scheme will see its final day on Bank Holiday Monday. Make the most of these amazing offers, with some of our top picks of restaurants to dine at this week.

#FLODown: Known for their darling pastel green façade and floral installations, this independent neighbourhood restaurant overlooking Clapham Common offers a seasonal menu of classic dishes. Expect a selection of creative meals including a supper menu that features delicious European dishes including quinoa superfood salad with avocado and pomegranate, lamb rump with aubergine, pan-fried plaice and a seriously tasty spinach pesto, ricotta gnocchi. The restaurant is spread over two floors with the first floor featuring a chic patio for alfresco dining in the summertime and a downstairs bar with more seating that has the perfect ambience for dinner. It’s perfect for all occasions from a catch up with the family to date night and drinks.

Minnow offers the ultimate laid back dining experience and is open for lunch, brunch, late-night supper and a Sunday roast where you can BYOB (as well as your dog)! They also have Happy Hour daily from 3pm – 7pm, with their house wine on offer for £5.

Alto by San Carlo

#FLODown: Located on the top of department store Selfridges, Alto by San Carlo offers a brilliant dining experience away from the hustle and bustle of busy Bond Street. Brimming with greenery and citrus trees, the décor is reminiscent of a chic Italian garden and perfectly complements the selection of Italian food on offer from traditional fried street food such as Sicilian arancini, calamari and fritto misto to a good selection of pasta and pizzas. If, like us, you love to have a taste of just about everything on a menu, their Cicchetti style Italian dishes are perfect for sharing! Alongside the restaurant is a bar and lounge area where you can indulge in their fine selection of Italian wines.

They also serve up a tempting breakfast menu from Friday – Sunday with choices including healthy power food bowls to classic pancakes with fresh fruit and maple syrup. Not a bad way to start a day of shopping!

Please note, whilst the restaurant is located on a rooftop, there isn’t much of a view. Having said that it’s still a wonderful place to dine and drink on a nice summer’s day when the skies are blue. Italian cuisines on a trendy London rooftop, what more could you need…?

Open seven days a week the restaurant serves lunch and dinner and has a suntrap garden engulfed with refreshing greenery and chic garden furnishings making it ideal for alfresco dining. With British favourites including pan roast Cornish hake, shepherd’s pie and beef burgers, the restaurant embraces the ethos of the relaxed family dining, and offers free meals for children with every adult main ordered! It’s the perfect location for a family catch up but also a great spot for meeting friends.

Wright Brothers

#FLODown: Dubbed the ‘seafood experts’, Wright Brothers specialise in Mediterranean inspired seafood. From their signature oyster platters to shellfish prawns, hake and crab Arancini, it’s definitely some of the best seafood on offer in the capital. Their flagship restaurant is located in the ever-trendy Borough Market. With other larger locations located in Battersea, Soho, South Kensington and Spitalfields.

At present only their Borough Market and Battersea Power Station restaurants are open, and they will be serving a reduced menu, however they still have many of the Wright Brothers classics on offer. At Borough Market, due to social distancing measures, Wright Brothers are providing additional outdoor dining space under the beautiful art-deco market for dinner reservations.

Wright Brothers have a wonderful Oyster Happy Hour from 4-6 pm Monday – Sunday offering 6 oysters for £10. It is worth taking advantage of!

Hello Darling

#FLODown: Located a couple of doors away from the iconic Old Vic Theatre, Hello Darling is quite the showstopper, from its striking facade to the unique yet elegant interior, designed exclusively by an actual team of theatrical set designers (Darling & Edge). Serving up a seasonal menu with a selection of British and European dishes including anchovy stuffed lamb, and our favourite: smoked salmon with grilled cucumber, radishes, sour cream and chrysanthemums on a toasted crumpet.

Don’t miss out on the 360-degree cocktail bar serving nothing short of scrumptious cocktails, including our favourite, the Lavender Martini. We know…Yummy! The restaurant has great ambience coupled with tasty foods so make sure you add this to your dining for this week!
