Things to do in the Cotswolds
The Cotswolds is an area approximately 1.5-2 hours drive west of London, making it an ideal weekend getaway from the city. The region is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is known for its peaceful villages and picturesque cottages. Here are some of our favourite places to visit in the Cotswolds for an ideal late summer weekend away.
Chipping Campden

Located north of the Cotswolds, this village is best enjoyed in the early morning for a quiet walk around the town. Most tourists come to Chipping Campden for its adorable tea rooms and the hike up to Dover’s Hill. The hike takes around half an hour to complete, and once you reach the top you will be met with scenic views of the surrounding meadows and hills.

Broadway
A short 12-minute drive away from Chipping Campden lies Broadway. Although very touristy, the beautiful stone buildings are definitely worth a visit. One of the most popular things to do in Broadway is to amble up to Broadway Tower – which is either a 30 minute (rather steep) walk, or a 10 minute drive.

The old English tower was designed by architect, James Wyatt. Entrance fees into the tower itself vary depending on whether you opt for a family pack or an individual ticket – which will set you back £8.
Bibury & Bourton-on-the-Water
These villages are around a 45-minute drive from each other but are well worth a visit. Bibury, although small, boasts some picturesque National Trust 17th-century weavers' cottages. There are some great photo opportunities in Bibury and we recommend giving yourself a couple of hours to wander about the town.
Conversely, you should expect to spend some more time in Bourton-on-the-Water. The River Windrush runs through the village and the low arched stone bridges that cross over it are really stunning.

Kiftsgate Court Gardens

Kiftsgate Court is located in the north of the Cotswolds and it is an absolute must-see for plant lovers and anthophiles alike. The gardens have been maintained by three generations of women and they also offer beautiful views of the Cotswolds. A visit is definitely worth the £9 entrance fee.
