London at home: virtual things to do this week (11th May - 17th May 2020)

Following Boris’s speech last night, it seems lockdown is still very much on the agenda for now. However, there are plenty of virtual activities to get you through the week! From Shakespeare, Picasso, to a pool party DJ set, here are some of the virtual activities you need to check out this week…

Shakespeare: ‘The Show Must Go Online’

When?

Wednesdays 7pm

#FLODown: Tune in every Wednesday for a reading of a full Shakespeare play done by a global cast on Zoom. Created by Robert Myles in response to the coronavirus crisis, this offers a educational and theatrical escape from your weekly routine. Previous’ weeks performances are currently available and include The Two Gentlemen Of VeronaThe Taming Of The Shrew (which is one of our favourites), and Richard III.  The group intend to perform each of Shakespeare’s masterpieces in the order that is believed to have been written in.

Visit the website to watch. And if you’re feeling particularly brave, you can sign up to join the cast.

The Virtual Market: The South London Craft Fair

When?

Saturday 12pm - 2pm

#FLODown: The South London Craft Fair is now bringing its market stalls to your living room with their weekly virtual market. Every Saturday between noon and 2pm, they will be sharing crafts and gifts from independent traders on their Instagram stories.

See below for instructions on how to get involved and how to purchase your favourite items.

Here's this week's graphic for our market this Saturday! We're delighted to announce that we will be streaming some of @jimajewellery 's Lockdown Lessons on IGTV as part of this weekend's market. We'll also be chatting to them at 2pm about their business and life in lockdown on Instagram Live. Don't miss out! To Visit the virtual Market; 1. Grab a drink and get comfortable. 2. Switch on to SoLo Craft Fair's Instagram stories between 12-2pm every Saturday. Please note only 100 stories are allowed at one time, so please check back 2-3 times throughout the event so you don't miss any traders or view our highlights after the event. 3. If you see something you like, click through to their profile to find out how to buy and follow the maker. 4. Please be patient with postage, as this can be slower during these uncertain times. 5. If you are unable to buy anything at present, please do follow any makers you like - this is still hugely appreciated! 6. At 2pm head over to Instagram Live to hear us chat to @jimajewellery then watch her lockdown lessons on IGTV To Participate: 1. Follow us 2. During 12-2pm on Saturdays please make ONE story featuring a product with it's price and tag solocraftfair - make sure our name is clickable and please ONLY post during 12-2pm - we can't share stories outside of this time frame. And please remember these are stories not posts. 3. At some point within the 2 hour window we will share your story and you will become part of the 'market' 4. If you are going to be involved, please help promote this event. It is free to take part, therefore there is no budget to promote. The success of the week's event came down to everyone doing their bit to spread the word. Remember, we're trying to make an online community here! 5. You can find graphics to share for each week at www.instagram.com/solocraftfair
