David Hockney's festive Christmas tree illuminates Battersea Power Station with Apple collaboration.
From December 1 until Christmas Day, visitors of London’s Battersea Power Station can see Hockney’s Bigger Christmas Trees, drawn on iPad Pro using Apple Pencil.
London is in for a treat this holiday season, as renowned artist David Hockney has jazzed up Battersea Power Station with his latest creation, the Bigger Christmas Trees. From 1st December to Christmas Day, swing by and feast your eyes on a spectacular sight: two chimneys of the station's north facade decked out in festive lights shaped like Christmas trees. Hockney worked his magic using an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, crafting a mesmerising 10-minute animation that transforms these iconic chimneys into a whimsical display visible from 5pm to 10.30 pm daily.
“I wanted to decorate it in a way that I hoped would bring joy and hope to Londoners,” shared Hockney, explaining his inspiration for this dazzling display at Battersea Power Station. Now, here's the cool part—Hockney's been buddies with Apple's tech for over 15 years! Starting with the iPhone back in 2007 and then moving on to the iPad, he's been creating beautiful works, from glass windows at Westminster Abbey to various exhibitions.

This latest collaboration with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil contributes to London's incredible collection of Christmas trees, transforming Battersea Power Station—now the location of Apple's new U.K. headquarters—into a fusion of art, technology, and festive celebration!
