Quick & easy recipes: Crispy baked honey sweet potato fries

When making Sweet Potato Fries, technique is key. We have a recipe to ensure you Sweet Potato Fries are perfectly crisp because lets face it nobody likes soggy sweet potato fries.

Ingredients

1 sweet potato (1 per serving)

1 tablespoon corn-starch

½ teaspoon fine sea salt

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

2 teaspoons Honey

Optional seasoning mix: freshly ground black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, sage, and parsley

 Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC/400ºF/gas 6 whilst you begin prepare your fries.

  2. Cut your fries evenly sized (approx. ¼ inch). Cutting your fries to a similar size will avoid having fries that are over- or under-cooked.

  3. Place you fries in cold water for 30 minutes. Rinsing off excess starch will help them gain that perfect crisp.

  4. Season your Fries. Mix your dry seasoning (garlic powder, smoked paprika and black pepper, parsley, sage) with olive oil.  Add two teaspoons of honey to your seasoning mix and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to make your fries extra crispy. Toss, turn and coat your fries with your seasoning mix. After you have coated your fries in the seasoning mix, sprinkle ½ teaspoon of of salt and parsley over your fries

  5. Add the fries to your baking tray. Avoid overlaying your fries, to ensure each your fries are adequately baked. Don’t overcrowd the tray.

  6. Make sure you check on your fries after 10 minutes and flip them to ensure both sides get perfectly crisp.

  7. After another 10 minutes or when your fries are nice and crispy they are ready to be removed. Sprinkle some salt on your fries.
