Where to watch London’s New Years Eve Fireworks 2023
Recently, it was announced that Tower Bridge won't offer a view this year, and Londoners have been advised to steer clear. However, if you're without tickets or planning last-minute for London's New Year's Eve fireworks, fret not! There are fantastic alternatives along the River Thames and other great spots in the city where you can catch the stunning display.
Cannon Street and Monument
Just outside the ticketed zone, nestled between St. Paul’s Cathedral and Bank, these spots offer street-level views of the fireworks! While they boast fantastic views, be prepared for crowds as they're close to official viewing areas. Nearby bridges like Southwark, Lambeth, and Vauxhall also offer views, but they're expected to be busy. Planning to arrive early is a good idea if you want a prime spot and a disappointment-free viewing experience from these locations.
Parliament Hill and Hampstead Heath
Parliament Hill boasts an iconic view, offering stunning panoramas of the city. Before finding your spot, take a relaxed stroll through Hampstead Heath. Enjoy a meal or drink at the charming restaurants and pubs in Hampstead or Kentish Town. Then, settle in on Parliament Hill for a memorable fireworks display to kick-start your New Year.
Primrose Hill
Renowned for its uninterrupted panoramic views stretching from Canary Wharf to Westminster, Primrose Hill stands as an exquisite location for the New Year's Eve fireworks. It's the perfect place to indulge in a delightful pre-fireworks dinner at nearby restaurants. However, don't leave it too late to find the perfect spot, as there will likely be crowds drawn to this sought-after vantage point.
Alexandra Palace
Ascend the steep hill at Alexandra Palace for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city skyline. The nearby pubs also provide a fantastic setting to savour a drink before and after the fireworks display!
Greenwich Park
The iconic Greenwich Park showcases one of the most picturesque views of the city, offering a wonderful spot to witness the New Year's Eve fireworks against a backdrop of historical architecture. While there, enjoy ice skating at Queen's House, one of the most scenic skating spots, before ringing in the new year!
Hilly Fields in Brockley
Hilly Fields, located in Lewisham, South East London, offers splendid views across London, particularly highlighting the cityscape. It's an excellent location to witness various firework displays across town.
Battersea Power Station
Ring in the New Year at Battersea Power Station, a vibrant hub offering a plethora of dining options, ice skating, and an idyllic view of the Thames. Celebrate along the riverside with the perfect blend of entertainment and a view of the stunning fireworks, creating an unforgettable start to the year.
New Year's Eve is busy time in London, so it's wise to check ahead before heading to these spots. Tubes and trains might be running on different schedules, and roads could be congested or even closed.
