The Brixton Chamber Orchestra (BCO), an award-winning charity, has announced its Summer Estates Tour 2023, a series of 12 free live music performances taking place across South London over two weekends from 21 July. The orchestra, consisting of 25 young and diverse professional musicians and students, will be joined by special guest vocalists from Brixton's Artist Development Programme, including Taysha Lee, Tomszz, Chontae, Coltrane, Yago Xyen, Nur, and Tymes. The repertoire for the performances will span a wide range of genres, from classical to grime, disco to drum and bass, pop, jazz, and Ibiza classics.

The events aim to provide inspiration and entertainment for audiences of all ages, particularly at the start of the school summer holidays. At the end of each show, there will be an orchestral open-mic session where anyone can take the microphone and perform with the live orchestra. The concerts are made possible through the support of Arts Council England, Lambeth Council, and Brixton Brewery, with additional contributions from other local independent businesses. Donations for the charity can be made through the purchase of Brixton Brewery beers and limited edition Brixton Streetwear x BCO t-shirts. Furthermore, a collaboration with The Lazy Scientist offers BCO's hot sauce for sale, and a partnership with Minus 12 Degrees and Maya's Bakehouse introduces a special ice cream available during the Summer Estates Tour, with an optional 50p donation from each sale.
The Summer Estates Tour will take place in various locations including Brixton, Clapham, Crystal Palace, Kennington, Streatham, Stockwell, Tulse Hill, Vauxhall, and West Norwood. The tour promises to be a vibrant and diverse musical experience, showcasing the talents of BCO's musicians and the vocalists from Brixton's Artist Development Programme, while offering opportunities for community engagement and fundraising to support the organisation's mission of providing free music events for the local community.
