In previous years, throughout December, the independent shops and restaurants along Columbia Road extended their hours until 9 PM on Wednesday evenings. This allowed visitors to enjoy post-work festivities such as carol singing, shopping for Christmas trees, and sipping on mulled wine. This massive festive event is held in Hyde Park every year and is the largest Christmas market in the UK.
