London is set to host its first-ever Taiwan Festival, a vibrant celebration of contemporary arts and culture from Taiwan, at The Coronet Theatre in Notting Hill. Set to take place from 12 -27 April 2024, the festival promises an unprecedented showcase of over 30 Taiwanese visual artists, theatre-makers, and musicians, many of whom are making their UK debut across various art forms, including visual art, design, dance, music, physical theatre, virtual reality (VR), and immersive experiences.

One of the festival's highlights is a major site-specific bamboo installation by acclaimed artist Cheng-Tsung FENG, known for his large-scale pavilions and objet d’art. The festival's theatre programme features the world premiere of "taking it down and putting it up" by Riverbed Theatre, a Taipei-based company recognised for pushing the boundaries between visual and performing arts. Additionally, Taiwan's rich tradition of contemporary dance will be represented by Anarchy Dance Theatre, Hung Dance, and dancer-choreographer CHOU Kuan-Jou, offering captivating performances.

Anda Winters, Artistic Director & CEO of The Coronet Theatre, expressed her excitement, stating, "Having fallen in love with the bold creativity of Taiwanese arts, I am thrilled to share this adventurous and varied programme with our audiences." The festival follows the theatre's successful Japanese and Korean Festivals in 2022, reinforcing The Coronet Theatre's commitment to providing a year-round, multi-disciplinary programme that engages, educates, and empowers audiences with arts and cultures beyond borders. The Taiwan Festival adds another chapter to the theatre's legacy in bringing international cultural experiences to London.
