The secret to turning a two-day break into a five-star escape
Often, the need for a break from daily life creeps up on us faster and more surprisingly than anticipated. It's been a LONG month, you’re tired of the neighbourhood drama, the construction on the house next door seems to have been going on for decades…whatever it is, when you need a break now, you need it now. There’s one problem, though: you don’t have more than a Saturday and Sunday available, but how is that going to be enough time to feel like you’ve really gotten down to relaxing and enjoying the premium services that your accommodation has to offer? Worry not, because following this advice will make your two-weekend mini break feel like a full-on holiday escape.
Our Advice
Choose The Right Mode of Travel
Begin your two-day escape with a mode of travel that offers you luxury and supreme convenience right from the jump (or rather from wheels up). Private jet charter flights are not only the most exclusive and opulent way to fly but also an enormous time-saver, which is important when you only have two days at your disposal. Private jet flights are the most luxe of all travel experiences, offering space, peace, privacy and lush comfort from start to finish.
Private airlines allow you to set your own takeoff time, which means you can plan to arrive at your accommodation right before checkout, rather than having to find a coffee shop for a cuppa while you wait around with all your baggage. If your destination is remote, a small private jet can get you much closer to it than a commercial passenger plane would, by making use of private airstrips and airports, saving you more time. If you’re going to spend time in the air, there's really no better or more enjoyable way to do it!
Choose The Perfect Accommodation
Now is the time to really embrace that “treat yourself” mentality. Since your trip is such a short one, you’ll want to revel in all the decadence that you can. This will begin with choosing the perfect accommodation at the right destinationfor your tastes and continue with making sure that you’ve booked the most exclusive, opulent suite that you possibly can. Since zooming around to every experience in the immediate area is probably going to be a no due to time constraints, choosing accommodation that includes experiences (think spa treatments, workshops, classes, a pool complex, hot tubs, etc.) will give ways to enjoy yourself that don't require long, time-wasting drives.
Since you only have a short amount of time, amping up the experience by including service like tasting menus over traditional a la carte dining will make the experience more special and still be manageable even if you have a strict budget. Go large and go lavish to ensure that you get the most out of your mini break.
Begin The Luxury Before You Arrive
If you have a two-day weekend available for your trip, begin the luxury on the Friday evening before your Saturday takeoff. Book a massage, head out to a lovely restaurant in a gorgeous outfit, have your nails and hair done or book a private chef for a home dining experience. This will give you the feeling of an extended trip and send you into your blissful mini break already de-stressed and ready for more relaxation.
Be Intentional
Be intentional with your time while you’re on your two-day break. Choose activities and entertainment based on what you want to get from the weekend. It's likely you’ll be wanting to relax, so book any experiences with that in mind. Consider your options with a feeling in mind rather than an itinerary! Enjoy slow meals and really savour the cuisine that you’re served. Sip your morning coffee in bed and appreciate the aroma. Put on that “it's so pretty, but I never wear it” dress for dinner, even if it's in your suite. Snap your photos and then put your phone away to stay in the moment. You won't be sorry!
End on a High Note
Pack as many of your things away the night before you head home so that your last morning is one you can enjoy. Ask for a late checkout if possible, get up in time to have a leisurely breakfast, ask your driver to take the scenic route to the airport, and book a supper delivery from your favourite restaurant at home to be sure you don't have to rush through cooking as soon as you unlock your door.
Fail to Plan, and You Plan To Fail
While there's no best way to enjoy your two-day mini break, this advice will help you to create a little bit of structure, which will, in turn, facilitate you enjoying yourself as much as possible in the time you have available. Short on time doesn't mean short on enjoyment if you know how to maximise your travel experience! Enjoy your mini break…you deserve it.
