2026 Festival Watch: Primavera Sound Barcelona
Now in its 24th year, Primavera Sound Barcelona has evolved from humble origins as a one-day event in Poble Espanyol to a multi-day, mix genre, cult celebration of live music in all its glory. A loyal and ever-growing fan base flocks from around the world to Barcelona every June, and lucky ticket-holders of the perpetually sold-out festival are in for a special treat this year.

English rock legends The Cure are a particular highlight, returning to the festival for the first time since 2012 when they delivered the longest performance in Primavera history at nearly three hours. We’re also delighted to see the undisputed queen of pop-rap Doja Cat top the bill, alongside Gorillaz, whose latest album The Mountain is rapidly climbing the charts, and beloved indie-electronic powerhouse The xx. Primavera is known for combining big-hitters with emerging acts, and this year is no exception. The lineup is stacked with exciting new voices and our eyes are on the Lambrini Girls, Juicy BAE and Ninajirachi, to name a few. The festival’s reputation for investing in next-generation talents is well-deserved, and we expect to see many of the lesser-known names headlining their own stages soon.

For electronic music lovers, the mind-melting Japanese DJ and producer ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U is a huge draw, playing alongside bigger names such as Peggy Gou, Skrillex, and Ben UFO. On the more ambient, experimental side, Panda Bear and Shlohmo are the FLO team’s sea-front highlights, while the triple threat of Carl Cox, Joseph Capriati and BLOND:ISH are guaranteed to round out Sunday in high-octane style.
The 2026 lineup also delivers a tantalising blend of indie-rock nostalgia, with an iconic double billing of My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, alongside the recently reunited Rilo Kiley who are touring for the first time in 17 years, and cult favourites Big Thief and Viagra Boys. The strength of these bookings is a testament to the resurgence of the shoegaze subgenre and to Primavera's instinct for capturing a cultural moment before it peaks.

Don’t miss Primavera a la Ciutat, which takes place from 3-5 June before the main festival kicks off and offers an electrifying showcase of free, open-admission gigs from global rising stars. Many of these names will no doubt grace international lineups in years to come, and these intimate events are a fantastic peek into the future of the music industry. FLO’s top tips? Don’t miss the high-intensity euphoric sounds of 3L3D3P and get to know the latest Latin sounds from the likes of GAL GO, MIEL and Pájaras Vampiro. With editions of Primavera Sound also taking place in Buenos Aires and São Paulo since 2022, the festival is uniquely placed to platform new talent from across Latin America.
Not only catering for music lovers but music industry professionals alike, Primavera Pro runs in parallel to the festival and consists of talks, conferences, workshops and, of course, special concerts. Bringing together representatives of artists, venues, public institutions, the AV sector, critics and anyone passionate about transforming the music world, Primavera Pro has become an annual melting pot for thousands of professionals and serves as a litmus test of sorts for the industry.
